The Kaiser Edition

The Ultimate Beverage Bracket.

Some of you may recall “The Meat Bracket” an online-blog-battle to find out which meat is the best meat in the world. Some of us are still recovering from the effort (the “Sausage Crew”, like the Sith, are still waiting for their moment of revenge over American Bacon).

Anway. A little passion broke out over tea and coffee and some calls were made for a new bracket – “The Ultimate Beverage Bracket”, so I’ve decided to run it in (I’m stll not strong enough to participate – the pain of loosing to American Bacon is still stabbing remorselessly at my heart).

The categories are as follows:

Hot Beverage

Cold Beverage (Non Alcoholic)

Cocktail/Long drink

  • Gin & Tonic [Peate]
  • Sex on the beach
  • Harvey Wallbanger
  • Pina Colada [Charles]

Beer

Wines & Spirits (Updated)

  • Red Wine [Angus]
  • White Wine
  • Whiskey [Drew]
  • Vodka

The idea is very simple. Somebody takes on the responsibility for a beverage and battles with another. Each Beverage argues why they are the “Ultimate Beverage” on their blog. They can write a post, draw a picture or make a video – in fact anything that shows why their beverage is “The Ultimate Beverage”. Then the voting starts and the winner goes on into the next round.

It’s really easy.

The first step is to get people to champion a beverage. As you can see Northern and Rob Campbell have already secured theirs (although Northern - he calls himself that now - doesn’t know his luck yet). It’s first come, first serve so if you would like to take part just leave your beverage of choice in the comments. And if you’ve think I’ve left out an important beverage let me know too.

Let the battle begin.

  1. I’m in. Not that I have any choice, Unleash hell.

  2. Good man. I honestly think it’s going to be hard to beat you.

  3. Even I want Northern to win.

  4. I know that I don’t want YOU to win. I loath Diet Coke.

  5. I have to be careful - they pay our wages

  6. You don’t have to be careful - you have to be good.

  7. sipping tea, eating bread and plotting already.

  8. Seb

Oh, brilliant. I think innocent is reserved for the plannerboy. So I take spring water or coffee. You decide. I like both. Though I drink more coffee.

  9. Seb get’s Coffee.

  10. Seb

Will I have the chance to battle Rob early?

  11. You’ll have to wait and see Seb.

  12. Hmm. I guess I’d take Innocent then.

  13. Innocent it is Tim.

  14. Well when does this whole thing start?

I would love to be the one for Gin Tonic!

But Kaiser, what are u gonna be up for. I guess some kind of beer right?

  15. Hi Peate - it starts when the drinks have been finalised and “adopted” (I’ve just realised that I’ve left wine & whiskey off the list).

I will NOT be taking part this time.

And you are doing Gin & Tonic.

  16. If you like making love at midnight. Getting caught in the rain….ahem…I’ll have a Pina please.

  17. Pina it is Charles.

  18. Due to my unhealthy addiction and absolute fascination with coffee, I have a feeling that Seb will be the victor. However, I am happy to throw my hat in the ring for the much maligned but worthy lager. (Of course, I expect strong challenges to come from Frith who will be making love in the Beijing rain or some other nonsense).

  19. Excellent stuff Gavin - Lager it is.

  20. i will neither host nor vote on this one. not because it’s an unworthy cause, but i’m tired, my cookies just can’t take it anymore and i’ve got too much work to do. may the best bev win.

  21. This is a great loss Lauren. Get some sleep and think about it tomorrow.

  22. I’m tempted to take on British Ale, providing it incorporates mild and bitter.

  23. It does. So you are. Mortimer takes on Ale.

  24. Seb

    Hm. Wodka is quite interesting.
Can I do Coffee and Wodka?
Or do I have to choose?

  25. Too late. Can’t have you all swoping around now can I? (I know Vodka came in late Seb - but still). But maybe we can sort something out if you can convince somebody to take on coffee and Vodka remains free.

    So be quick young Seb.

  26. i would take on coffee. but i’ve had a good night’s sleep and a think about it and challenging NP to a coffee vs tea debate would take the equivalent of full-time employment. so you’re stuck with coffee seb. good luck.

  27. Lauren - is this the new “tough” Lauren. It’s scary.

  28. Seb

I still hope that I don’t have to challenge “Northern” that early. But just in case I am already on Kopi Luwak.

  29. Well, you’ll have to wait and see won’t you young man. Have a little more confidence Seb. Remember - everybody said that The Smiths would beat Boney M.

  30. Seb

I am absolutely optimistic. I have a fully loaded double shot decaff semi-fat white chocolate mocca and I am not afraid to use it.

  31. Seb

Oh, did I mention it is venti sized?

  32. Bloody starbucks.

  33. My workload is manic so I’ll be keeping it simple but what the heck - can I do red wine?

  34. The Kaiser

Angus - That would be smashing!

  35. Also, Lauren, if I can do one given my workload, you can too. It only takes one image…

  36. angus - you’re fucking barossa stock! you’ll annihilate them..

and marcus - if by tough, you mean quite aware of my limitations, and not afraid to use them, then yes. and if by scary, you mean enlightening, then good. :)

  37. No Lauren. I meant scary, like scaring the shit out of me scary.

  38. Seb, you’re pushing your luck

  39. Fighting talk from Northern.

  40. Lauren told me she’s keen to do hot chocolate - awesome!

  41. Andy

    hello - tequila??

  42. Wal

aaaah, i need to be vodka, i am vodka, my body is vodka, mya mind is vodka… can i be vodka?
